GMJ acted as visualisation consultants for the Hawkins Brown oversite development proposal, part of the wider Tottenham Court Road Crossrail Station project.
The application, submitted in conjunction with Derwent London, proposes to 'repair' the townscape in order to reintroduce enclosure and animation to the street. In addition it enables commercial development of the air rights above the operational station that will help balance part of the capital cost of building the railway.
The site comprises two city blocks bounded by Dean Street to the east and Oxford Street to the North and incorporates retail use at ground floor level with market and affordable residential above.
The proposals respond sensitively to the historic context of Soho and the eclectic commercial context of Oxford Street, with a different architectural approach to each city block.
